At DGS, fundraising is one of the ways we buy new equipment for our gymnastics program.
Equipment that benefits everyone from the casual users in the community who drop in, to the school teams that train here, and the field trips that play here.
Equipment that makes it possible for us to run one of the most successful clubs in Canada, with a program that offers something for everyone, whether you’re 7 or 70: a beginning gymnast just learning to balance, a grandmother who loves Gymnaestrada, or an elite gymnast training for national-level competition.
The biggest fundraising effort we’ve ever undertaken is also one of our proudest accomplishments and a mainstay of the community – it’s used for training by sports teams and gymnasts, meetings, competitive events and community celebrations. It’s the Delta Sport Development Centre, the facility in which DGS operates.
We raised money for 14 years to achieve that dream. And when the facility opened, our role expanded. Not only are we a gymnastics facility, we are a physical literacy teaching centre, with a mandate to teach the fundamental skills that are the basis of all sports and a life-long love of physical activity.
But don’t program fees pay for everything? Our program fees don’t cover costs such as upgrades to the facility, or the purchase of new equipment. Because we want to keep our classes affordable for all families, we fundraise – and rely heavily on the efforts of families – instead of raising class fees.
How does DGS fundraise? Our main methods of fundraising are:
Would you like to make a donation? We welcome donations of all sizes! If you’d like a tax receipt, your cheque should be made payable to the National Sport Trust Fund (NSTF). Our office has NSTF forms that must be submitted with the donation.
Want to get involved with a worthy group that’s also a lot of fun to work with? We welcome all kinds of fundraising help! Whether you want to buy a six-pack of chocolate, help to sponsor Operation Red Nose, advertise in one of our gymnastic meet guides, or have your name on the wall at one of our community events, there’s a role for you.
We’re proud of the relationships we’ve developed in our community and grateful for its support. That’s why we also give back – above and beyond the programs we run – donating our time and equipment at community fairs and events throughout the year.
Please contact our main office to learn more about donating, sponsoring a DGS event, or advertising with us.
