Interested in a career as a gymnastics Coach? Want to improve your leadership skills? DGS offers the Canadian Gymnastics Federation’s Coach in Training Program. You’ll learn about gymnastics as a fundamental movement sport and the benefits of a healthy, active lifestyle. You’ll study the ABCs of physical literacy, and gain hands-on coaching experience under the guidance of our most qualified Coaches.
The program teaches skills through classroom discussion, gymnastics training, mentorship, and apprenticeship with Coaches. It consists of approximately 12 hours of theory and 30 hours of practice in all levels of our programs.
The course is designed to help streamline the pathway to becoming a Coach with National Coaches Certification Program (NCCP) certification. Participants must be at least turning 15 during or close to the end of their Theory Sessions to be eligible.
The program costs $80* and is comprised of approximately 12 hours of Theory Sessions broken into 4 classes, and approximately 30 hours of required shadowing in the gym
(*NCCP courses are not covered by the CIT Program fee, and will cost extra upon registering through GymBC).
Passionate people with good relationship-building and communication skills who love working with children, and who want to learn how to coach and lead. It’s a great opportunity to train for a satisfying and diverse full-time or part-time career.

- When will the theory sessions be?
Fall theory sessions will be once a month on Saturdays (Sept 19, Oct 24, Nov 14, Dec 5) from 9am-12pm. Spring theory session dates are TBD, but will be on Wednesday evenings. - Where will the sessions be offered?
Theory sessions are held in-person at Delta Gymnastics in Ladner (4680 Clarence Taylor Cres) - Are theory sessions available online or at a different time?
Unfortunately, there are no online options for theory sessions. The course content involves hands-on activities that require attendance at the gym. - What happens if I cannot attend all of the theory sessions?
Please contact us right away to let us know. CITs must attend all of the theory sessions in order to successfully complete the program. - How can I pay the program fee?
